Bridon-Bekaert The Ropes Group (BBRG) was formed on 29th June 2016 by the merger of Bridon Group with the steel ropes and advanced cords businesses of Bekaert, capitalising on over 300 years of combined expertise and technology leadership. Prior to the merger in 2016, Bridon and Bekaert were already business partners. Not only did they source steel wire, ropes and half-products from one another, they were also involved in an important joint venture many years ago.

 

BBRG are suppliers of mooring lines (steel and synthetic) to the O&G, renewable and aquaculture industries.

 

In addition to mooring lines BBRG also supplies support services (e.g. repairs, inspections, deployment support).

Contribution: Ropes numerical modelling

  • Bekaert Wire Rope Industry will contribute to the development of T3.1 where loads, degradation and failure of mooring systems in Floating Offshore Wind will be investigated.
  • Bekaert Wire Rope Industry will participate in the numerical modelling of degradation and failures of mooring ropes.
  • Bekaert Wire Rope Industry will participate in T6.1 to define the MooringSense integrity management strategy for the mooring systems
